Online Teaching Experiences

Students

The target audience for me would be my student coaches who are Y7-12 students. These children need to develop lesson plans for the practices of the groups of student players for the Saturday sessions.

Electronic portfolio

A great way to capture best practices of the practice sessions and to keep them for future years is to ask the student coaches to work on an electronic portfolio reflecting the work that they are most proud of as well as the lesson plans they have developed with comments on what worked and what didn’t + why.
The major advantage of  an electronic portfolio is that visual and audio components can be included. Screencasts should be used to describe some of the work done.

Wiki

This would work very well also as the Head Student Coach can work with the Student Coaches on this Wiki so everyone is working together on the development of the Lesson Plan. Also the Parent Supervisory Coaches can be part of the Wiki and in true collaborative spirit

Harder to use

A Learning Management System wouldn’t particularly work for me as the (Head) Student Coaches aren’t really in a typical teacher/student learning set up with student progress monitoring and assessment using computers.

Pedagogical Strategies

It would be exploratory instruction combined with some directive instruction. Furthermore cooperative, project-based learning and integrating technology.
